The main men"s competition started with a opening ceremonial shortly after half past seven in the evening. Fourteen competitors, accompanied by children from the Hustopece athletics team with their national flags, introduced themselves to the Hustopece audience and threw this year’s T-shirts with the graphics of "Hustopecske Skakani" into the crowd.

Traditionally, the broadest starting field was offered by the Men B category. 24 jumpers from seven countries from Slovakia to Mexico attempted to beat the others. According to the personal bests, the Slovak Lukáš Beer had the best chance of winning, but even after the first attempts it was clear that the competition would be awesome.

Shortly after 1 PM eleven female high jumpers from three countries entered the Women´s B category.

Youths and juniors entered Saturday"s competition with a slight delay. The starting height was set at 147 cm but most of the 13 competitors skiped it and continued to higher heights. Dominik Machala from the district competitors and Erik Slatinský, both from TJ Lokomotiva Břeclav, took part in the fights for medals. While Dominik finished at 162 cm, Erik jumped to 187 cm without a single mistake. Unfortunately, this height was too much for him and he had to leave the competition.

Little athletes from HUstopeče’s athletic club had a training with the world stars Edgar Rivera, Marija Vukovic and maried couple Roderick and Tynita Townsend showed their tricks and favorite exercises to the children of Hustopeče’s athletic club. After a short warm-up, they jumped together and the children received a great encouragement.

The men"s competition also offers a very strong and unusually balanced line-up. Four competitors from the top ten in the world rankings, three finalists of the last Olympics and thirteen athletes with personal bests of over 230 cm suggest a great spectacle. It"s hard to find favourites in this line-up. These should include, in particular, the Korean athlete Sanghyeok Woo with a PB of 235 cm. This performance has won him 4th place at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan last year.

The organizers managed to do everything what is in their powers for the successful course of the competition. This is evidenced by one detail from the preparation of this race, which is related to the women"s competition. "From last year"s World Athletics Congress in Lausanne, Switzerland, we brought to Hustopeče a piece of the bar that was on the stands during the women"s final race at the Olympic Games in Tokyo," said the new Hustopeče Jumping Manager Andrea Cejnková. "It is a valuable talisman. Perhaps it will bring us luck and help the competitors to jump as high as in Tokyo, "adds Cejnková with a smile.
